RE: COVID-19 SHUTDOWN EFFECTIVE MIDNIGHT November 16, 2020

Dear Valued Members,

My heart is heavy and overwhelmed with sadness as I must once again write to inform you that as of the end of day, today, Monday, November 16, KTAC is forced to suspend much of our indoor operations and restrict access to the facility until at least December 14.

Governor Inslee issued an Executive Order on Sunday, November 15 closing all indoor fitness facilities, among other restrictions, effective at Midnight tonight.  COVID-19 is rampant throughout Kitsap County and across our state and country.  Please know that your health and wellbeing while you are here at KTAC, and always, is the reason KTAC exists, and our most important priority.

What’s being suspended: All indoor fitness classes, weight room, indoor tennis and inside access to the facility, with the exception of the pool.  Please see below.

What is staying open: I am grateful to share a bit of good news.  For now, we are going to keep the pool open regular hours for lap swim and water aerobics classes until the end of the month and then we will re-evaluate the hours and times.

Pool Usage

  • Pool entry is strictly limited through the back pool door and check in will be through the lifeguard.
  • All Silver&Fit, RenewActive and SilverSneaker members must call the front desk to check in themselves as well as checking in with the lifeguard.
  • The same rules already in place apply for pool usage. The only locker room use is for restrooms no changing or personal care. There will be no access to the rest of the facility.

The outdoor tennis courts will also remain open for use on days during which weather permits outdoor play.  No indoor facility access will be available for outdoor tennis players.

I have been working with the Washington State Fitness Alliance that has been advocating for the fitness industry here in Washington, and those we serve.  Fitness is a crucial part of health and wellness.   At this time, we have received confirmation from Jon Snider, Governor Inslee’s economic advisor, that Indoor Tennis is shut down.  I will continue to work with the Alliance and advocate for KTAC and the needs of our members with hope of some modification to this shutdown.  I will communicate with all of you as information becomes available.

During this time, I will be holding down the fort here at KTAC with limited staff.  Please reach out to me with any questions or concerns you have regarding your membership.  Be certain, I understand that many, especially our staff here at KTAC, will be deeply impacted by this Order and, ultimately, COVID-19.  If possible, I ask that those who can maintain their membership as is through this shutdown, please do.  Those who do need to modify their membership, please know that I am here to assist you.  You can call the center at 360.692.8075 or reach out to me by email to manager@kitsaptennis.com.

I will be updating our community on Facebook and by email whenever additional information becomes available to me.  If you are not already following KTAC on Facebook, please join us. In the meantime, know that all of you are in my heart and I hope that each of you will remain safe and well.

Sincerely,

Katrina Fulkerson
